Area Forums

What is an Area Forum?

There are various definitions of area forums but importantly it is up to those who participate to how they define a forum. Our current forums agreed the following statement:

‘Area Forums are a partnership between tenants and Broadland Housing to improve the services all tenants receive and provide the opportunity to influence decisions about housing services and discuss issues of common concern.’

Why do we want Area Forums?

From our perspective we want tenants to have greater involvement in what we do. We recognise that if we are to improve as an organisation and provide a better level of service we need to do it in partnership with all tenants and residents. We see the Area Forums as one way of working in partnership with you.

Where do we hold Area Forums?

Your homes cover a wide geographical area across Norfolk and North Suffolk.  We would love to hold regular Forums in every town or village, but this simply isn’t possible.  That said, if you would like us to hold a meeting where you live to discuss a particular issue please get in touch and we will be happy to arrange this.
To ensure views of all tenants are represented we split the region into three broad areas, which reflect the location of our offices, areas where we have high concentrations of properties and acknowledge the main transport hubs within the region :

  • Greater Norwich – incorporates the local authority areas that surround our head office of Norwich, South Norfolk and Broadland District Council
  • West – includes Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, Breckland, North Norfolk and Forest Heath.
  • East – includes Great Yarmouth and Waveney District Council.

The Greater Norwich Forum meets in Norwich four times per year,  Meetings for the West take place in King’s Lynn and Dereham and the East Forum alternates between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

We also hold a forum in Norwich specifically for Senior  Tenants, with a tenant representative from each Sheltered Housing Scheme and more recently we have also started a Maintenance, Repairs and Renewals Forum, which looks specifically at Repairs and Maintenance issues.  This group was started following discussions that took place at the other Area Forums.

These areas as detailed below were chosen to reflect the geographical spread of all homes, remove the bias towards Norwich as our head office, mirror our area offices and concentration of properties and acknowledge the difficulty in transport links across the whole area.
