Resident Involvement - Area Forums Print Page

What is an area forum?

There are various definitions of area forums but importantly it is up to those who participate to how they define a forum. The current forums agreed the following statement:

‘Area Forums are a partnership between tenants and Broadland Housing
to improve the services all tenants receive and provide the opportunity to
influence decisions about housing services and discuss issues of
common concern.’

Why do we want Area Forums?

From our perspective Broadland wants tenants to be greater involved in what we do. We understand and recognise that if we are to improve as an organisation and provide a better level of service we need to do it in partnership with all tenants and residents. We see the Area Forums as one way of working in partnership with you

Area Forums

Area Forums are an new opportunity for all tenants to have a greater recognised say in what and how we operate. The forums are intended to have a real impact and influence over our activities. Importantly we want to do it together, in partnership with all of our tenants.

Your homes cover a wide geographical area across Norfolk and North Suffolk. To ensure fair representation of tenants on Broadland’s Board, three broad areas have been chosen with the aim to ensure that all views were included in the decisions that we made.

There is also a  forum for senior  tenants and most recently a maintenance, repairs and renewals forum, which came about through feedback given at the forums.

These areas as detailed below were chosen to reflect the geographical spread of all homes, remove the bias towards Norwich as our head office, mirror our area offices and concentration of properties and acknowledge the difficulty in transport links across the whole area.

The three broad areas chosen are:

  • Greater Norwich – incorporates the local authority areas that surround our head office of Norwich, South Norfolk and Broadland District Council
  • West – includes Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, Breckland, North Norfolk and Forest Heath.
  • East – includes Great Yarmouth and Waveney District Council.
